OVERVIEW
I pitched an idea to bring an artist's work to life through movement, expanding beyond her usual creative processes type of content for reels and videos. This project, titled "Inspiriting," aimed to animate her artwork with eye-catching motion graphics to attract more traffic to her platform. It also served as a valuable learning opportunity for me, allowing me to continue developing my skills in Blender, a 3D modelling software.
The primary goal of this project was to create engaging and dynamic motion graphics to breathe life into the artist's work, increasing its visibility and appeal to a broader audience.
I conducted thorough ideation and research into the artist's background, delving into the story behind her work and understanding what it represents to her target demographic. Using Blender, I recreated her work, experimenting with new perspectives through the strategic use of texturing, lighting, and shaders. Additionally, I developed concepts to animate her static artwork, bringing it to life in a way that aligned with her vision and resonated with her audience.
One of the main challenges I encountered was my limited knowledge of Blender, as I was still in the process of learning the software. To address this, I approached the project as a learning experience, gradually improving my skills by experimenting with different techniques in 3D motion graphics. I also sought out tutorials and resources to help guide my progress, which allowed me to overcome obstacles and keep the project on track.
This project significantly expanded my knowledge of 3D design and motion graphics, particularly in the areas of texturing, lighting, and rendering. I gained a deeper understanding of how to curate a 3D setting and animate it in Blender, laying the groundwork for future projects in 3D motion. Additionally, the project successfully enhanced the artist’s platform by creating dynamic content that drew more attention to her work.

PROCESS
CHARLOTTE JUDD as ‘ARTIZBLUE’ (IG) ART OIL PAINT, FEB 2022
Unfortunately, this method didn’t work due to my current struggle and lack of knowledge in handling complex textures. So, I decided to pause this project and work on another learning opportunity, following different tutorials more aligned with the direction I wanted to explore further. This would allow me to come back with more knowledge under my belt.
After reflecting on the first attempt, I adjusted my approach in the second trial by simplifying the design and focusing on texturing techniques that were better suited to my current skill set. This allowed me to achieve a much cleaner and more accurate result. When I returned to the project for the second trial, I had gained more confidence and felt ready to experiment with the methods I'd learned. This process of trial and error not only improved my final results but also deepened my understanding of the 3D software and boosted my confidence in my abilities.
THE JOURNEY
I explored various texturing tutorials to achieve the right 'painterly' style, experimenting with different brushes, texture maps, and patterns. One of the biggest challenges was building the 3D base itself, which took the longest to tackle as I was new to character modeling and creating human-like features. After navigating through multiple tutorials, I was able to mix and match techniques to develop a solution that worked for my vision.
OUTCOME
As a result, the dynamic, eye-catching content captured social media audiences' attention, encouraging them to spend more time engaging with the post as a video, which capitalizes on the behavior of viewers being drawn to motion. Through this project, I expanded my knowledge of 3D design and motion graphics, particularly in texturing, lighting, and rendering. I developed a deeper understanding of curating and animating 3D scenes in Blender, which has laid a strong foundation for future 3D motion projects. The project also successfully boosted the artist's platform by creating captivating content that drew increased attention to her work.
