THE BORGEN PROJECT

PR & MARKETING INTERNSHIP
APRIL 2024 - JULY 2024, 12 WKS

OVERVIEW

For 12 weeks,I’ve interned with The Borgen Project, a nonprofit focused on addressing global poverty through advocacy and policy change. In my role, I contributed to raising awareness through conducting market research, successfully running an information event and fundraising. This experience allowed me to develop skills in planning, designing, and executing several campaigns, as well as collecting and analysing valuable data. It also enabled me to make a meaningful impact by raising awareness of the organisation and my fundraiser. This internship has enriched my personal and professional growth, teaching me the value of planning and execution behind impactful design.

Roles and Responsibilities:
As an intern, I was responsible for marketing and raising awareness of their cause. This included organising campaigns, collecting market research and fundraising. I also took on a leadership role in executing an information event, where I analysed data, funraised £400, and designed and delivered a presentation.

Skills and Experience:
Through this experience, I developed skills in planning, designing, and executing several campaigns, as well as collecting and analysing valuable data. These skills are directly relevant to my career, enabling me to adapt to the ever-changing and diverse demands of the creative industry.

Impact and Outcomes:
My efforts contributed to raising awareness for the cause. For instance, I successfully organised a handful of fundraiser marketing strategies that raised £400 such as the 1-mile campaign, implemented a social media marketing strategy, and executed virtual information event to raise awareness and cover information around joining in.

Personal Growth and Reflection:
Interning with The Borgen Project has been incredibly rewarding. It showed me the significant impact one individual can make and the various ways to raise awareness, enriching both my personal and professional life. A particularly memorable moment was planning and implementing fundraising strategies, including sending fundraising letters, incorporating a social media campaign, and selling products and services.
